A Look Inside The WIL Grant Application Process

We've received several inquiries about our WIL grant application procedure. In this blog post, we'll provide you with insights into the WIL grant application and its timeline. So you can apply with confidence!

The Application Process
Recognizing the busy schedules of restaurant owners and operators, we've strived to simplify the application process as much as possible. Once you become an AHA member, completing the WIL grant application typically takes less than 20 minutes.

Here's a checklist of the information you'll need to complete the application:

  • General business information and contact details for the primary business contact.

  • Information about the student you're applying for, including:

    • Dates of their enrolment.

    • Name of their University or College.

    • Name of their program.

    • Proof of enrolment.

What Happens After Submitting Your Application?

The AHA Board reviews applications every two months and selects candidates based on the following criteria:

  • Meeting all requirements on both the business and student sides (you can find the full list of requirements here).

  • Geographical diversity of applicants, ensuring consideration for applicants from across Alberta.

  • Past applications.Grant recipients will receive an email notification informing them of the status of their application.

Once selected, you will be required to provide:

  • proof of the student’s enrolment in an Alberta post-secondary

  • paystubs as proof of employment for three months

Once that is done, your full grant payment will be transferred to you.

That's it! If you have any more questions, please refer to our FAQ section or feel free to reach out to us via email at info@albertahospitalityassociation.ca.
