Meet Our Executive Director

Meet Mona, the Executive Director here at AHA.

Mona started her career in health-care administration, where she worked and studied for nearly two decades before deciding to pursue her true passion and move into the hospitality industry.

She received a Diploma in Baking and Pastry Arts from SAIT, and began working back of house baking sweet treats for local restaurants.

There she began to realise that contact with people was what she was craving, which led her to get involved with Mealshare, a not-for-profit that partnered with restaurants to fight youth hunger.

At Mealshare, she served as a community leader and eventually Executive Director, and began to get a first hand look behind the scenes of the hospitality industry.

Mona believes that food brings people together, and restaurants play a major role in creating healthy communities.

Seeing the impact that covid had on the industry, and how the community rallied together to support each other, she wanted to find a way to get involved in helping the industry move forward.

As the Executive Director of AHA, Mona is proud to work to represent the people whose businesses are an integral part of the communities they serve.

The hustle, creativity, passion and resilience that those in the hospitality industry possess inspires her work and motivates her to continue pushing to make Alberta a place where these businesses thrive.
